A woman came in last night with a serious burn on the last digit of her third finger, right next to the cuticle, where there are lots of nerve endings. She was in excruciating pain. At first I applied ice and that helped tremendously to cool the burn. She kept the ice directly on the wound for about 15 minutes, until she said that she was finally getting relief. Then she tried to remove the ice, but the pain came back. I tried applying Lavender oil to the burn and that gave about 50% pain relief. But she still came back to the ice.

A friend was visiting from out-of-town.  She had broken the middle toe on her right foot a year ago, but it healed badly. So the doctor broke it again, but it still did not heal properly, so she was in constant pain with this toe. She showed me that when she curled the toes of her right foot, the middle toe stuck up; it wouldn’t fold in.  It was always out of line with the others, so she could barely wear shoes.
